Introduction of the company

Since 1898 Fabryka Urządzeń Dźwigowych S.A. (FUD) has manufactured crane’s equipment for various industries and trade. FUD has its own production plant, design office and many years of experience in the design, construction, delivery and assembly of lifting equipment. The company has already implemented ISO 14001 and ISO 9001.

Context and stakes

The need for continuous development of the company was pointed out as an argument for joining the
EE-METAL project. The company is committed to creating a Center for Management and to improve Energy Management Systems in the continuous and systematic way.

Energy efficiency measures implemented in company

The company is preparing to implement the activities proposed in the energy audit developed under the project. It is currently preparing projects for activities related to drives replacement in process equipment and heat recovery from these equipment. It also has a project for the installation of heat recovery from compressors and the production of energy from renewable energy sources (installation of PV panells). The modernization of transportation fleet is also planned. The key element in implementing the above activities is to find financing sources for these investments. Nowadays around 50% of the lighting has been replaced in the company. As a result of the modernization of lighting undertaken, the installed power was reduced from 70 kW to 39 kW.

The results obtained

A reduction in primary energy demand of approximately 37,086 kWh was achieved. It represents 1.1% of the company’s total primary energy consumption.
