Presentation of the company

Mori 2A is a metalworking company specialized in manufacturing stainless steel products for food use mainly, with a complete range of products that includes food containers, bowls, accessories for gastronomic industry, ice-cream shops and restaurants.

The company owns also a more recent division for injection molding of plastic materials, always for production of articles for food and beverage sector.

Both production sites are located near Brescia.

Context and challenges

Mori 2A is one of the 20 SMEs that took part to EE-Metal project.

Energy audit phase was carried out in June and, due to this activity, some interesting actions for energy efficiency improvement were identified.

Thanks to positive results of cost benefit analysis and their encouraging impact on environment, top management of MORI 2A decided to implement some of these actions and to continue improvement process of the company itself through implementation of an energy management system in compliance with ISO 50001.

Actions

A complex network of instruments for energy monitoring has been implemented by Mori 2A, with smart energy meters both for electricity and natural gas. This measurement system is also preparatory for ISO 50001 certification.

Replacement process of obsolete lamps with LED has been recently carried out while installation of VSD on electrical engine of presses is going to be analyzed.

Company has also installed a high efficiency furnace in place of an old facility.
