Introduction of the company
The company Inregal, S.A., whose main activity is the treatment and coating of metals, was one of the companies selected to participate in the European project of the H-2020 program, EE-Metal, by conducting an energy audit in its facilities. Likewise, the company implemented and was certified in energy management, ISO 50001, in 2018 and currently has an energy monitoring system in place at its facilities.
Context
In this company of about 16 workers, energy efficiency measures had already been undertaken in recent years, such as replacement of lighting with Led technology and installation of air compressor with speed variator technology. Organizational measures are also carried out to reduce the energy cost of the plant.
Actions and benefits
The energy audit allowed to propose different savings measures, identifying for each of them the amount of investments and the period of return on investment.
Actions such as installing variable speed drives or adapting new technologies in rectifiers, make this company improve its efficiency by reducing consumption and therefore its energy bill. The proposal for the installation of photovoltaic solar panels for self-consumption, contributes in turn to respect and improve the environment.
After the energy audit, the company has carried out the implementation of several energy saving measures. Some of them were included in the audit and others have been detected by the company itself.
The office air conditioning system has been replaced by heat pump equipment, whose energy efficiency is higher. Likewise, traditional current rectifiers have been replaced by high frequency ones with higher performance, which leads to lower energy consumption.
The saving of electrical energy, mainly due to the change of rectifiers, has been of 10.50% with respect to the same period of the previous year.
